ArmA3: Hornet Nest

“A multipurpose
successor to the Mi-24,
the Mi-48 Kajman is a large
gunship and attack helicopter with
troop transport capacity for 8 passengers.”

– ArmA3 Field Manual

It’s the mid-2030s in Bohemia Interactive’s ArmA3, where NATO forces deployed in the Greek islands of the Aegean Sea are trying to hold off a massive Iranian military offensive from the east.

Hornet Nest is a infantry combat mission and my second ArmA3 release. The mission is singleplayer only and features (more or less) tactical infantry gameplay. The development time of this mission was around three days (luckily I could reuse many of my previously written script snippets).

In Hornet Nest, you are taking over the role of CSAT Para-Trooper Sgt. Omid Nazari. Your mission objective is to free the village Abdera of the local guerrillas, who are growing in strength more and more, with each passing day.

Situation: The local guerrillas in Altis’ north west mountain area are growing in strength and their morale is good. With each passing day they get stronger and more organized. We can not allow this to continue.

Viper-Blue will attack and drive away the enemy forces in Galati, while Viper-Red parachutes over the mountains and clears the village Abdera of all rebels.

Close air support is available after Hydra has dropped off Viper-Red.
